As a central part of Jasmin Vardimon Company’s expanding education programme, the company’s professional development company, JV2, takes to the road this spring with a bill of both new and established work.

JV2 is aimed at the recently-qualified or those already working professionally in order to deliver a Professional Development Diploma. Alongside it, other educational activity includes the work the company contributes as named practitioner on the Dance ‘A’ Level syllabus, Continuing Professional Development Courses for Teachers, repertory and creative workshops and JV2’s sister course JVIntensive. This year’s JV2 is an ensemble of 12 young international dancers, hand-picked by Artistic Director Jasmin Vardimon.

JV2 2017 is a triple bill including specially commissioned new work from long-time Vardimon collaborator Marilena Dara and freshly revised work from Juksapoz (Australian Paul Blackman and Greek choreographer Christine Gouzellis). The evening will culminate in Tomorrow, featuring highlights of Jasmin Vardimon’s own works Park, Justitia, 7734 and Yesterday.

Vardimon said, "growing up in a kibbutz, I learnt to believe in sharing what you have or what you have achieved, including knowledge. This philosophy contributed to my development in the past, and it is a view that I'm happy to be able to retain through my company's educational programmes.

"Sharing experiences, opportunities and knowledge is at the heart of what we do. It’s a fantastic feeling to nurture & support young artists in their first steps in the professional world. I am very proud of this year’s JV2. The journey they have taken and their individual achievements makes me tremendously excited about their forthcoming tour.”

Now in its 5th year, JV2 offers opportunities not only to performers but also young costume designers, photographers and lighting designers. Relationships with Wimbledon College of Art and Rose Bruford College have been established to offer placement opportunities to give young artists a platform to develop their work. Young choreographers are also commissioned each year to create new work.
