Submissions are now open for Newcastle-based Live Theatre's annual Live Lab Bursary for innovative approaches to text-based theatre.

The bursary winner will receive £2000, dramaturgical and producing support, research and development and rehearsal space as well as a performance slot at the Elevator Festival in February 2018.

Previous bursary winners include Sex with Robots and Other Devices by Cloakroom Theatre, Lists for the End of the World by fanSHEN, The Soaking of Vera Shrimp by Alison Carr and Captain Amazing by Alistair McDowall.

“Winning the Live Lab Bursary helped us make a show we’re now very proud of,” said fanSHEN’s Rachel Briscoe, “but also, more importantly, as newcomers to the region, gave us a home. Presenting our work to audiences, next to other exciting companies, really helped us develop what we were trying to do—that’s what every artist needs!”

To apply, e-mail a one-page proposal outlining the project, the artists involved and the process of how you work to [email protected]. Images and video links of the idea or previous projects are welcome.

The deadline for applications is 10AM on Monday 3 April 2017.

This is an open opportunity to UK-based individuals, collaborations or companies.
