The Gut Girls

Set in the gutting sheds of the Deptford docklands in the 1890s and commissioned and first produced by the Albany Empire in Deptford in 1988, Sarah Daniels's play The Gut Girls deals with the women who spent their working lives preparing meat for London's butcher shops. Now it is to get its north east première in Newcastle from 21 to 24 October.

Producer Twenty Seven Productions aims to make this performance as immersive as possible for both the audience and performers, so it is being performed in an abandoned warehouse just off the Quayside, Warehouse 34 in Hoults Yard.

Directed by Christopher Linton, the cast will be Victoria Gibson, Jacob Anderton, Andrew Horsley, Rebecca Maltman, Eleanor Faye, Gemma Carter, Arabella Arnott and Eilidh Talman.

Tickets (£12.50 / £10 concs) available from www.northernlightsmusic.biz/music-store/.
