Summer Holiday

A new production of the musical Summer Holiday is coming to Darlington’s Hippodrome in 2018.

The show, adapted for the stage by Michael Gyngell and Mark Haddigan and directed and choreographed by Racky Plews, will tour the UK during 2018, opening at Liverpool Empire on 8 May, and visiting 19 venues, with more 2018 and 2019 dates to be announced later.

It will play Darlington Hippodrome from 25 to 29 September 2018.

Summer Holiday tells the story of Don and his fellow London Transport mechanics as they journey together in a red double-decker bus through Paris, the Alps, Italy and Greece. Along the way, they pick up a girl singing group and a young American pop star who is on the run from her domineering mother.

The show features many of Cliff Richard’s biggest hits of the ‘60s, including "In the Country", "Summer Holiday", "Travellin’ Light", "Bachelor Boy", "Move It", "Living Doll", "The Young Ones" and "On the Beach".

Casting will be announced at a later date.

In addition to Liverpool and Darlington, Summer Holiday visits Milton Keynes, Woking, York, Bromley, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Plymouth, Brighton, Blackpool, Leeds, Southend, Dartford, Chester, Wimbledon, Stoke, Aylesbury and Glasgow.
