Two CBBC stars and a North East panto regular will appear in the summer panto, The Wizard of Oz, at Playhouse Whitley Bay in August.

Strictly Come Dancing finalist and star of CBBC's Tracy Beaker Dani Harmer will play The Wicked Witch of the West, while Chris Stanton (Mr Flatley from CBBC's M.I. High) will be the Wizard himself. They are joined by Steve Arnott who, this Christmas, will celebrate his tenth consecutive year as the resident villain in the Newcastle Theatre Royal's Pantomime as The Cowardly Lion.

Producer Reece Sibbald from County Durham says he is delighted to be bringing the show to the Playhouse. “It's our first time in Whitley Bay after six years of producing around the UK,” he says, “and I can't wait to bring my biggest production yet to my native North East.”

The show runs at the Playhouse from 1 to 4 August at 2:30 and 7:00 daily.
