Nominations for The Journal Culture Awards 2018

Nominations are currently being invited for The Journal Culture Awards 2018.
The Awards, now in their 12th year, recognise those who have made a significant contribution to the cultural landscape of the North East in 2017. Anyone can nominate an event or person in the following categories:
- Visual Artist of the Year
- Performance of the Year
- Performing Artist of the Year
- Newcomer of the Year
- Writer of the Year
- North East Museum of the Year
- Best Arts and Business Partnership
- Arts Council Award for an “arts or cultural event or piece of work that has particularly inspired you this year”
- Best Events in Tyneside, Sunderland, Northumberland, Teesside and Durham (and Best Overall Event)
- Special Award for Youth Achievement
- Special Contribution to Arts and Culture—an award for someone who has made a significant contribution to arts and culture in the North East over a long period.
Anyone can make a nomination online. The deadline is 4 March.
The shortlist will be issued after that date and the winners announced at a ceremony at Hexham Abbey on Thursday 24 May.
