The new touring production of The Sound of Music comes to Newcastle Theatre Royal from Tuesday until 12th September.

It’s the Our World Youth Theatre Festival at Live Theatre this week: on Thursday Big Talk, Small Talk is a series of short plays devised by youth theatre member, then on Friday and Saturday 11 Plus tells what it is like to be 11 or 12 in modern society and at 9pm in the Studio all-girl comedy troupe Your Aunt Fanny presents a preview of their Edinburgh Fringe show. Finally on Sunday is a showing of Invisible Cinema, a film created by young people using improvisation.

A new musical version of Peter Pan comes to the Playhouse Whitley Bay from Wednesday to Friday (1.30 and 6.30).

CBeebies’ Tree Fu Tom is at Middlesbrough Theatre on Friday at 1.00 and 3.30.

The Harrogate Gilbert and Sullivan Festival continues this week in the Royal Hall with Edinburgh G&S Society in The Pirates of Penzance on Monday, the Grosvenor Light Opera Company with Ruddigore on Tuesday, Peak Opera with The Yeomen of the Guard on Wednesday, South Anglian Savoy Players with The Gondoliers on Thursday, WWOS with HMS Pinafore on Friday, Charles Court Opera with Ruddigore on and New York-based Blue Hill Troup with Patience on Sunday. The Festival continues until Saturday 22nd August.
