Jesus Christ Superstar comes to Newcastle’s Theatre Royal from Monday to Saturday.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, Precious Cargo presents Into Thin Air at Northern Stage and on Thursday storyteller Sally Pomme Clayton performs Night Visit, stories of spirits that haunted her.

At Live Theatre on Wednesday Jack Dean in association with LittleMighty presents Grandad and the Machine, for ages 12+. Written, performed and with music by Jack Dean.

Jersey Boys continues at Sunderland Empire until Saturday.

On Wednesday, Operating Theatre presents a double bill highlighting health and social issues, The Sitting Room and For the Best.

At the Customs House, South Shields, on Thursday Vital Xposure presents The Disappearance of Dorothy Lawrence.

On Friday at Alnwick Playhouse, Northumberland Theatre Company (NTC) presents A Wife or The Gallows and other Telling Tales, a new Northern Canterbury Tales for family audiences.

From Monday to Saturday The Mousetrap comes to Durham’s Gala Theatre.

The Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Company returns to Darlington Civic this week with The Mikado (Tuesday and Wednesday), HMS Pinafore (Thursday) and The Gondoliers (Friday and Saturday).

At the Georgian Theatre Royal in Richmond on Saturday, Brad Fitt Inc presents Crocodiles in Cream, a portrait of Lewis Carroll.

Northern Broadsides production of The Winter’s Tale premières at Harrogate Theatre on Friday and runs until 26 September.
