Northern Stage’s Christmas show, Roald Dahl’s James and the Giant Peach, opens on Saturday and runs until 31 December.

Shelagh Stephenson’s new play, Harriet Martineau Dreams of Dancing, continues at Live Theatre until 3 December.

On Tuesday, Alphabetti Theatre’s Literary Team presents a rehearsed reading of Songs of the Blackbird by Mhairi Ledgerwood, a story about a relationship breakdown told backwards. Then on Wednesday Hands On NE presents Signals by David Farn.

Plan B for Utopia by Joan Clevillé Dance comes to Dance City on Saturday.

The Circus of Horrors is at Sunderland Empire on Wednesday.

Theatre Alibi’s Fish Eye is at Arts Centre Washington on Thursday.

On Friday, Sunderland Stages presents Luke Wright’s one-man show What I Learned from Johnny Bevan at Sunderland College’s Bede Campus theatre.

Fish Eye comes to the Customs House in South Shields on Tuesday.

Fringe First winner at the 2014 Edinburgh Fringe, London Classic Theatre’s The Collector comes to Alnwick Playhouse on Saturday.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show is at The Maltings in Berwick at 4:15 on Thursday.

The Collector comes to the Queen’s Hall in Hexham on Friday.

Fish Eye moves to Seaton Delaval Arts Centre on Saturday.

English Touring Opera brings Handel’s Xerxes to Durham’s Gala Theatre on Monday and Monteverdi’s Ulysses’ Homecoming on Tuesday.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show is at Billingham Forum on Wednesday at 1PM and 4:30PM.

Fish Eye is at ARC Stockton on Tuesday and Wednesday.

A community cast of 30 and a professional production team will present Mike Poulton’s new version of A Tale of Two Cities in the Central Hall, Dolphin Centre, Darlington at 2PM and 7:30PM on Saturday and Sunday. This will be a promenade production.
