The Woman in Black returns to Newcastle Theatre Royal from Monday to Saturday.

At Northern Stage this week, on Tuesday and Wednesday, Proto-type presents A Machine They’re Secretly Building, a play about speaking out, whistle-blowing, in Stage 3, and then from Thursday to Saturday Futures Theatre Company presents Offside, a play about women’s football. Finally on Friday, Stupid, a free but ticketed R&D showing, is in Stage 3.

The Red Lion continues at Live Theatre until 6 May.

On Friday and Saturday, the Rosie Kay Dance Company brings MK Ultra to Dance City.

On Friday, The Six Twenty presents Mixtape: The 80s, part of Sunderland Stages, at the Dun Cow in High Street West, Sunderland, next to the Sunderland Empire.

Ballet Theatre UK’s Alice in Wonderland comes to Alnwick Playhouse on Thursday.

Also on Thursday, in the studio at The Phoenix Theatre in Blythe, Lynx Theatre presents Sylvia, a one-woman show about Sylvia Pankhurst.

On Wednesday, Meet Fred, Hijinx Theatre Company’s play about Fred, the two-foot tall cloth puppet that fights prejudice every day, is at the Queen’s Hall in Hexham.

Ballet Theatre UK’s Alice in Wonderland is at Bishop Auckland Town Hall in Wednesday.

Zen Gun presents a rehearsed reading of its work-in-progress Trade at 7PM on Thursday at ARC Stockton.

Thunder Road Theatre and Harrogate Theatre present The Invisible Man in the Studio at Harrogate Theatre from Thurdsay until 6 May.
