Thrill for Tara in Gaslight at Northampton

Lighting up Northampton: Tara Fitzgerald will star in Gaslight Credit: Idil Sukan

Tara Fitzgerald is to play Bella Manningham in Northampton Royal and Derngate’s production of Patrick Hamilton’s Victorian thriller Gaslight in October 2015.

Tara Fitzgerald is known for TV appearances in Waking the Dead and Game of Thrones as well as in the film Brassed Off. Her stage credits include playing Hermione in The Winter’s Tale for the Royal Shakespeare Company in 2013.

Gaslight will be directed by Lucy Bailey whose other thrillers include Andrew Rattenbury’s adaptation of James M Cain’s The Postman Always Rings Twice at the Playhouse Theatre in 2005 and a national tour of Frederick Knott’s Dial M For Murder in 2009. She also directed Mike Poulton’s adaptation of Ivan Turgenev’s Fortune’s Fool at the Old Vic in 2013 and Titus Andronicus at Shakespeare’s Globe in 2014.

Design is by William Dudley who has seven Olivier Awards to his name. Lighting designer Chris Davey worked with Lucy Bailey on her production of Dial M for Murder, winning a TMA award for best lighting design. Sound design is by Mic Pool, winner of a Tony Award for the Broadway production of The 39 Steps. He also worked on the West End production of The King’s Speech. Original music will be composed by Nell Catchpole.

Gaslight will run at Royal and Derngate from Friday 16 October until Saturday 7 November.
